“It’s never too late to be what you might have been” – George Eliot
It all starts with the famous question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” In reality, career is so much more than the ‘thing’ you want to be one day. It’s about the kind of life you want and having a sense of purpose. It is not a static, once-off event but an on-going process that extends across the entire lifespan. Think of it as a journey, a project in the making.
At Life Story we are passionate about career development and human development in general! Our services are aimed at helping individuals navigate career decisions and challenges at different stages of their lives.
We follow a holistic approach which involves 5 basic steps: communication, data gathering, synthesis, feedback, and check-in.
Communication
The first step involves a 60-90-minute interview. This is aimed at understanding our client’s current situation, challenges, needs and expectations in order to put together a tailored and cost-effective service package.
Data Gathering
Involves the use of psychometric tests and qualitative methods to gather a wide range of information about our client (e.g. personal history, interests, skills/abilities, goals, personality, values, social & emotional functioning, occupational awareness, environmental-societal influences). This may take approximately 4 to 5 hours.
Synthesis
Involves scoring, interpreting, and writing up test results. These are then integrated with all other information in the final report.
Feedback
Involves a collaborative discussion of assessment information (60-90 minutes). The main goals at this stage are to explore different options, to make a realistic and informed decision, and to plan the short-term and long-term steps that are needed to realize that decision.
Check-In
An optional follow-up session (30-60 minutes) is scheduled to evaluate our client’s progress and to determine whether additional sessions or support are required.
